What Does Personal Development Mean To You?
Personal Growth and Personal Development has become an enormous industry helping individuals in various ways to go that extra mile and get closer to their goals and dreams.
You all know I don’t think new levels of success in any area of your life is possible without investing in some form of Personal Development on a daily basis. But with an industry that offers such a broad range of products and services, are the lines getting blurred? Does anybody really understand what personal growth means anymore? Is it different for each individual or is there one strategy, technique, philosophy, set of rules that fits everybody?
For me, Personal Development is any practice that helps us to grow in a positive way emotionally, mentally and spiritually, and expand our consciousness to become more aware so we can live as conscious beings, having a positive impact on all the people we meet and interact with. It’s all about self realization that enables us to express our true magnificence and be more successful in every area of our life, in whatever way that looks like for us.
Personally I believe there as many different personal development techniques and strategies that work as there are people on the planet. And this is the way it must be. Every single person on the planet is unique and has a different set of belief systems, emotional and behavioural patterns and subconscious programming that are as distinctive from everybody else as their fingerprint.
Sure there are some coaches, techniques and programs that have a significant impact on a large percentage of the population. Two of the techniques that I have found most universally effective are EFT and Sound Healing. They work specifically on releasing blocks within your energy system and altering your vibration to align with what you want in your life.
And even then, there are many different ways to employ even these two techniques to enhance their effectiveness. Each person being able to find their own unique style that works specifically for them.
Personal Development is not something you can pick up once a month, or once a year, and expect to see significant progress. We see that with the variety of weekend workshops people attend from time to time, and leave all energised, enthusiastic, ready to conquer the world. This lasts all of a week before the reality of their life sets in and they return to their state of homeostasis, because there is no ongoing effort to change a lifetime of habits, belief systems, behaviours and emotional baggage.
No matter how powerful your method of choice, if you want to see significant long term results, then you must commit to a daily practice with a firm intent to make significant changes in your life, one day at a time. This should be at least 30 minutes in length and it must be reviewed regularly to make sure it is still the best practice for you.
If you are consistent and commit to your practice every single day without fail for 30 days, you will start to see results. You may even see significant changes in this time. After 90 days, your whole world will surely be transformed. Often in ways you never even imagined.
So, if your life isn’t perfect, grab some personal development books, go to seminars, check out online information, listen to podcasts, learn as many new techniques as you can, webinars, teleseminars, whatever you can get your eyes, ears and hands on so you can find what works best for you. Some will not work for you. But how do you know what does until you try them?
And above all, remember to have fun! Life is too short to get bogged down in taking yourself and your situation too seriously. As bad as things may seem, there is a blessing in every circumstance, you just have to look for it.
